yep, fell for it. right here. it was only $6 bucks so i figured why not.
it looks like it just rolled out of a chinese stamping machine. I saw "gold" it had 3 minutes left on the auction AND BECAUSE IT WAS IN THE CRUMMY PAPER CARD BOARD AND LOOKED LIKE MAYBE IT MIGHT BE 'OLD' I BOUGHT IT EVEN THOUGH I KNEW IT WAS 90% FAKE. GREED KILLS :banghead: |

At $6 buy the whole set , put them in a nice wood box and leave them on the coffee table. That way you don't have to have good coins around to strike up a conversation (pun intended)

With the recent spike in metal, I wonder how many things on Ebay are real? Lots of scams going on there now. And too many idiots still in the "it's shiney, so I better buy it" phase making stupidly high bids! Probably better to buy from Apmex.com and know what you're getting, these days!

yeah, i agree on ebay getting dicier and dicier everyday....dogfarm fell for it....shiny, auction ending soon, etc.
that said, it's kind of a nice looking token and i will keep it on the coffee table and maybe sell it to someone. :bull-buddy-icon: |
Re: fake 1872 gold california token on ebay
Or you could buy more or other fake/look a likes and put them in your "throw away safe." The one that's just a little easy to find, maybe the door is open or the dial is one number off from open..........the bad guys see this and grab the goods and beat feet out of there.
I'm just thinking out loud. |
